and discharging a firearm when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma who remanded him to March 6 this year on US$100 bail.
Prosecutor Ms Francisca Mukumbiri alleges that on February 23 this year at about 3pm the complainant Lloyd Joel went to No 555 Leopold Takawira Street to collect his terminal benefits from Li after being fired from employment under unclear circumstances.
Li was not in the shop so Joel waited for him outside and at about 8pm Li’s younger brother Yang Jun entered the shop and the complainant followed him.
While in the shop Joel allegedly told Yang Jun that he had come to collect his terminal benefits and threatened to camp in the premises until he was given his benefits.
Yang Jun left the shop and after about 10 minutes he came back to the shop with Li who placed a small bag he was carrying on the counter before proceeding to the back of the shop.
Li allegedly came back while holding a broom stick and assaulted Joel with it until it broke but he remained in the shop.
Upon realising that Joel was refusing to leave Li allegedly took his Raven Phoenix pistol from the bag he had left on the counter before charging towards Joel and fired three shots in the air.
Joel made a report to one Sergeant Manunure who recovered the pistol with a magazine of five rounds.
He also picked one spent cartridge.
