A KADOMA-based businessman and Mashonaland West chairman of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation, Mr Timothy Chizuzu, has spearheaded a major infrastructure development project at Chakari Primary School after handing over a newly constructed security wall and a modern gate.
The commissioning ceremony, attended by community leaders, parents, teachers, learners and School Development Committee members, was hailed as ideal to improve the learning environment at the school.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr Chizuzu said the initiative was inspired by President Mnangagwa’s development mantra, “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo”, which encourages citizens to take part in transforming their communities.
“It is a great honour for me to stand before you today as I officially hand over this gate project to Chakari Primary School,” he said.
Mr Chizuzu said he was moved to act after noticing the poor state of the school’s entrance infrastructure during a visit to the institution.
“When I visited this school, I noticed that despite the important role the school plays in shaping the future of our children, there was no standard gate comparable to other schools. I felt challenged to contribute toward improving the image and environment of the school,” he said.
Mr Chizuzu said development should not be left to the government alone, but requires collective efforts from citizens and communities.
He commended parents, teachers and community members for supporting the project, saying unity and cooperation were critical in driving national development.
“This project could not have succeeded without teamwork and cooperation. I want to sincerely thank the parents, teachers, community members and all stakeholders who supported this initiative. Your contributions, whether financial, physical or moral, made this project possible,” he said.
Mr Chizuzu said the project complemented the Government’s National Development Strategy 2 and Vision 2030 goals through infrastructure development and community participation.
Chakari Primary School head Mrs Ratidzo Matsa described the development as a transformative intervention that would leave a lasting impact on the institution.
“We are deeply humbled by the gesture shown by Mr Timothy Chizuzu. What he has done for this school goes beyond infrastructure development. He has restored confidence, dignity and pride within our institution,” she said.
Mrs Matsa praised Mr Chizuzu for embracing community-driven development and investing in education.
“Mr Chizuzu has demonstrated true leadership through action. He has shown that patriotism is not about words only, but about investing in communities and empowering future generations. This is the spirit that will help Zimbabwe attain Vision 2030,” she said.
The project is expected to improve security and enhance the overall appearance of the school while strengthening the spirit of collective responsibility within the Chakari community.
