CHINHOYI businessman, Moses Chipi, hosted a Christmas party for the elderly at Chengetanai Old People’s home on Sunday.

Chipi, who owns Bakers King in Chinhoyi, told H-Metro that it was very important to remember the elderly in society, especially during the festive season.

He gave credit to his late mother who inspired him to remember the less privileged and disadvantaged communities.

“I took a leaf from my mother who used to gather her fellow villagers every year, and they would spend the day praying and feasting,” said Chipi.

He urged the business community to plough back to the community.

Chipi said his company does community service every week as part of their corporate social responsibility.

“The Lord has been kind to us and it is important to share and extend that kindness with others,” said Chipi.

Chipi’s wife, Patience Chakauya, told H-Metro that she was greatly touched the first time they paid a visit to Chengetanai Old People’s Home.

“I came to realise that there are some people out there who need our love and care,” said Chakauya.
