Businessman in court for verbal assault on Zimra official

Authority (Zimra) official manning a tollgate and refusing to pay US$1 toll fee.
Chibi (44) of Number 650 Baobab Road in the border town denied the charges of contravening the Criminal Law (Reform and Codification) Act, Chapter 9:23 when he appeared before Mr Carrington Karidzagundi.

He was remanded out of custody to 19 August for judgment.
Allegations are that on the morning of April 2, Chibi who was driving his Toyota Hilux arrived at Malala tollgate 15km along the Beitbridge-Bulawayo Road.

He stopped his vehicle a few metres away from the tollgate and was ordered to reverse by a Zimra official Tafadzwa Chikamhi so that he pays the toll fees.
He allegedly refused and insulted the revenue officer before speeding off.

The officers made a report to the police that led to his arrest in the border town.
Chibi, however, denied refusing to pay the toll fees and accused the Zimra officer of untoward behaviour.

He said the cashier did not bother to collect the money from him and he drove away without paying the fees.
