the border post, were last week each jailed for three years.
Khumbulani Mhlanga (20) and Vincent Mwale (19) both from Bulawayo were arrested on Tuesday last week after a two-hour search by the police and residents.

They were convicted on their own plea of guilty when they appeared before magistrate Mr Carrington Karidzagundi.
Mr Karidzagundi however, suspended a year each from their sentences and they will serve effective two years each.

Charges against the two arose on August 9 when they arrived in Beitbridge and hatched a plan to raise busfare to Esigodini.
The duo armed themselves with a toy gun and an okapi knife.

They then waylaid people near Spar shopping complex on the road leading to the border post. They pounced on a security guard who was on his way to work and produced the toy gun and knife. They searched him and took away R200 cash and fled.

The guard then screamed for help prompting members of the public to chase and apprehended them. The police recovered the toy gun and the knife.
