Graeme Zondesa (52) who is in the shipping business was contracted by Cash and Carry Wholesalers to transport containers of goods from South Africa to Zimbabwe.
Zondesa, it is alleged, told the director of the wholesale, Huii Zhang that US$17 000 was needed in South Africa as security fee, which was refundable. He then used the money to pay his own debts. Zondesa was on Thursday not asked to plead to the charge when he appeared before Mr Donald Ndirowei. He was granted US$100 bail and was ordered to surrender his passport and not to interfere with State witnesses until the matter is finalised. Prosecutor Ms Svodai Kadivirire alleges that sometime in February this year, Zondesa was contracted by Zhang to facilitate the transportation of goods from Durban to Zimbabwe.
Zondesa, the court heard, told Zhang that Interlogix Shipping, a company in Durban, required US$17 000 as security deposit for its containers, which was to be refunded after getting back their empty containers. – CR.
