BUSTED WITH ECSTASY! Man jailed after Fife Ave drug sting

B-Metro Reporter

A HARARE man’s party life came to a crashing halt when detectives caught him red-handed selling the notorious party drug MDMA — better known on the streets as ecstasy!
Tinotenda Nyahuma (30) of Kuwadzana 5 was slapped with a 6-month prison sentence after undercover cops from CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare set up a sting operation at OK Supermarket, Fife Avenue on 30 August 2024.

Nyahuma, thinking he had landed new customers, approached the plain-clothed officers and tried to sell them a sachet of the drug. When they moved in for the bust, he fought back fiercely — even smashing two Google Pixel phones in a desperate bid to destroy evidence!
But it was too late.

A search uncovered four sachets of MDMA, weighing 1, 58 kg , with a street value valued of ZIG$2 212.98. Field and forensic tests confirmed the drug as MDMA.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), he was nailed under the Dangerous Drugs Act [Chapter 15:02].

MDMA, commonly called ecstasy, is a synthetic drug that alters mood and perception. Popular in nightclubs and at parties, it floods the brain with serotonin, making users feel euphoric and hyperactive. But the high comes with heavy risks — including dehydration, anxiety, depression, memory loss, organ failure, and sometimes fatal overheating.
Authorities warn that MDMA abuse is ripping through youth culture, and have vowed to keep hammering drug dealers off the streets.
