SOUTH AFRICA-based gospel musician, Faith Butau, is itching for recognition.
Speaking to H-Metro from her base across the Limpopo, Butau said she was determined to make an impression in the region.
Buoyed by the success of her first album Fambai Nesu, after years of releasing singles, she could not hide her elation.
She said her music preaches the gospel of having faith in God.
“Most of the songs, especially the title track (Fambai Nesu), calls the Holy Spirit to guide and walk with us,” said Butau.
Like any other artist, she dreams of sharing the stage with the country’s finest artists.
“It has always been my dream to either share, or collaborate, with the likes of established gospel artists such as Charles Charamba, Blessing Shumba and Agatha Murudzwa, just to mention a few.”
“It’s never too late to seek God.
“I also urge youngsters to be original.
“We must also utilise our talents since it is the Almighty’s wish to see us obeying His Commandments.
“Use your natural talent and you will be glorified,” said Butau.
She, however, lamented lack of exposure as her biggest challenge, which has stalled her progress.
“I feel I have matured musically.
“The only obstacle is the lack of exposure and publicity.
“Music promoters must not neglect the aspect of going down to the grassroots where raw talent is in abundance,” she said.
Butau said she wanted to be known in Zimbabwe.
“I am a new kid on the block although I have just recorded one album.
“I believe God sent me to preach the gospel to the people through my music.
“After 40 years, the Lord has sent me to do His work,” said Butau.
Sadly, her husband passed away, and she is a single mother of two children.
Butau is self-employed.
