Buy Zim to open shop in Zvishavane

In an interview, Buy Zimbabwe general manager Mr Munyaradzi Hwengwere said through their television reality show, My Own Boss, they tasked participants in the show to promote entrepreneurship by establishing a retail outlet in the mining town.

“Buy Zimbabwe seeks to promote synergies between local manufacturers and retailers who produce quality products. We come in to smoothen relationships between retailers and manufacturers in order to promote usage of local products as well as entrepreneurship.

“Through My Own Boss, we gave the participants a task to identify opportunities in Zvishavane which has led to the opening of a shop that specialises in selling school uniforms and protective clothing,” he said.

The opening of the retail outlet will create employment opportunities for the youths.

He said they chose Zvishavane because it almost became a ghost town following the closure of Shabani Mine despite the existence of Mimosa Mining Company and other companies in the town.

Mr Hwengwere said their outlet in Zvishavane was being supplied with products by a Harare-based manufacturer that produces quality goods.

“James North produces quality school uniforms and protective clothing and these will be sold at Leos shop in Zvishavane.”

Former Midlands Governor Cephas Msipha will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.

He said in the past Zimbabweans had complained a lot about exogenous challenges facing the economy while also not being innovative to identify opportunities in various economic sectors.

He said through My Own Boss, Sandisiwe Mahlangu, one of the finalists in the television reality show, had managed to open a new distribution route in Plumtree for Capri, which manufactures fridges.

Mr Hwengwere said during the festive season finalists in My Own Boss would be required to identify as many as possible business opportunities in order to promote the growth and development of local industry.

Buy Zimbabwe seeks to create a platform necessary to promote the production and consumption of local goods and services in the face of an influx of foreign alternatives.
