BUY Zimbabwe Week Promotion, a campaign aimed at promoting locally produced goods and services, kicked off in Harare yesterday.

Held under the theme “Defend and Grow Zimbabwe Products”, the promotion runs until Friday.

Buy Zimbabwe representatives held a roadshow at  Aspindale TM Pick n Pay Supermarket, attracting hordes of shoppers.

In an interview with H-Metro, Buy Zimbabwe general manager, Alois Burutsa, said the campaign will be taken to different places in Harare.

“Buy Zimbabwe is basically a programme that is done every year to promote locally produced goods and services.

“Starting this week, there will be more roadshows and engagements with the private sector,” he said.

Burutsa said official retail partners for the Buy Zimbabwe Week Promotion are OK, Gain and TM Pick n Pay super-markets, among others.

The campaign encourages all people to buy locally produced goods ahead of the festive season.

“As Black Friday is around the corner, we encourage all people to give maximum support to their local companies rather than to travel to import goods from other countries.

“The Buy Local Summit will see producers, retailers, wholesalers, young innovators and policy makers, among oth-ers, gathering together to discuss ways of ramping up local production,” said Burutsa.
