BUY Zimbabwe has embarked on a nationwide research on preferred emerging and established products.
The in depth study which is being conducted by Select Research seeks to establish the most preferred products and brands by consumers in five major delineated regions which are Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare and Masvingo.
In a statement, Buy Zimbabwe said: “The research, which is the first of its kind on the market will look at gathering consumer preferences over a wide range of products and brands that include agricultural produce, foodstuffs, beverages, cooking oil, mining companies, detergents, alcohol, clothing and textiles, building materials, chemicals and fertilisers.
“The survey will also seek to elicit preferences about electronic appliances, hotels and lodges, financial institutions, telecommunications, medical aid and funeral assurance among other products and services.
“Buy Zimbabwe commissioned the research after observing that a number of new products have emerged on the market and are challenging established consumer preferences. There is, therefore, need to deepen knowledge and database of current product offerings on the market and to further understand the dynamic interplay of market forces and pricing regimes and how this affects choices by consumers.”
Results of the study will shed light on the preferred brands and products on the market, the effect of pricing on consumer choices and any shifts in consumer behaviour.
“In addition, the results will inform the restructuring and revamping of Buy Zimbawe’s premier awards which will be renamed as Zimbrands Awards. Previously Buy Zimbabwe used to convene an adjudication committee to select winners for the awards. With the new approach, the market has become more critical in the selection of the winning brands and products.
“To participate in the research respondents can access the link on Facebook: @BuyZimOfficial and on Instagram and X : @BuyZim_Official. Results from the survey are expected in a month’s time. Buy Zimbabwe remains committed to the production, consumption and preference of local content. In this respect we will continue working to promote market access for emerging local products,” reads the statement.
