AFTER securing a venue and announcing a date for the first annual Bulawayo Arts Awards, organisers of the award fete are now getting into the hard task of coming up with a list of those that will stand a chance to walk away with the gongs at the final ceremony.
It was only a few weeks ago that the organisers of the ceremony announced that they had secured the Large City Hall as the venue for the award show which is supposed be held on 30 June.
This was after city fathers agreed to the organisersa�� request to have free use of the venue on that night. Although the move faced opposition during debate in council chambers, they were eventually given the green light after it was decided that the ceremony would go a long way in the celebration and promotion of local talent.
Now the organisers are faced with the hard task of coming up with nominees in various categories, with the award show spokesperson Nkululeko Nkala announcing that prospective candidates had until 15 May to make submissions.

With Bulawayo artistes crying foul when do not go their way in awards ceremonies outside the city, it remains to be seen whether the organisers of the Bulawayo Arts Awards can get it right rectify perceived past injustices.
