BULAWAYO-bred cage fighter Elvis “Bulawayo Bomber” Moyo is ready for his EFC Africa heavyweight elimination bill against Knife Didier-Kolola tomorrow at the Grandwest Casino and Entertainment World, Cape Town, South Africa.
A triumph over the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Didier-Kolola will afford South Africa-based Zimbabwean pugilist Moyo an opportunity to face a European opponent on December 11.
Tomorrow’s bill will be screened live on pay-per-view sports channel SuperSport.
Speaking from his Johannesburg base yesterday, Moyo who leaves today for the weigh-in at Cape Town declared war on his opponent who is unbeaten this year after two fights.
The “Bulawayo Bomber” will be trading leather for the fifth time this year, winning twice and losing two games.
Moyo’s victories were against Sors “Guru” Grobbelaar at the beginning of the year and in August when he overpowered Wilhelm “Tiny” Strauss. His defeats were against Brendon Groenwald in May and Andrew Van Zyl in July.
“I’m ready to do battle with Didier-Kolola. I’ve really been doing lots of work at North Cliff Tap Out Gym under my trainer Gert Strydom.
“Unlike my previous opponents, I don’t know much about Didier-Kolola besides the fact that he has a judo background. In his two victories the first one he just swung his opponent and won.
“He went on to hurt his opponent’s knee in his second fight,” said Moyo.
Didier-Kolola’s victories were against Ricky Misholas in June and August against Grobbelaar.
“I know that Didier-Kolola has seen my fights and knows that I’ve got powerful punches. He would want to avoid those punches and will prefer taking me to the ground and my message to him is ‘take me to the ground and I’m going to knock you out.’ I’ve worked on my groundwork with an experienced wrestler.”
What further motivates Moyo to win against Didier-Kolola is another opportunity to play in a title fight next March as having six fights and a good record under his card will make his dream a reality.
