THE Bulawayo Christian Soccer League has sought Zifa referees to officiate in their league’s second half championship race. Now in its fifth season, the league has been relying on retired referees for their matches.
BCL’s spokesperson Timothy Mandizadza said the changes were in response to the growing competition in the league.

He said they were happy with the progress made in the competition over the years.

“As an association we felt the need to improve standards through use of qualified referees. The same move was implemented in netball last year and up to now our league is running smoothly,” he said.

Mandizadza said they were passionate about sport and hence wanted to ensure proper high standards were retained at all times.

He applauded the retired referees for a sterling job over the years.
