Byo City fails to pay players

WHILE the coaching staff is battling allegations of bribing a rival team recently, Bulawayo City FC players havenat been paid winning bonuses for the last four matches as well as two monthsa salaries, B-Metro Sport reveals.

The four matches include the Border Strikers away showdown where their assistant coach Farai Mujokoro was arrested for an alleged bribery attempt for Strikers players to throw games.

Bulawayo City eventually won by a goal to nil.

For bonuses the club aowned and funded by local municipality Bulawayo City Council – uses a points system to pay players.

This is how it works.

One point, which is earned through a draw, is equivalent to $50 for each player.

A win translates to three points meaning each player in the 18-member match day squad takes home $150.

A defeat obviously means empty pockets for the players.

Bulawayo City FC has in the last four matches recorded two wins and the same number of draws.

Interim coaches Try Ncube and Barry Daka aroped in the aftermath of the match fixing scandal a played two draws starting with a 0-0 in Hwange before holding giants Dynamos to a 1-1 stalemate in Harare.

Then came the 3-1 drubbing of Caps United at Barbourfields Stadium last Sunday.

Players are owed $400 each in bonuses only.

Salaries differ from player to player most senior players taking home more in salaries in comparison to juniors.

a?Itas really hard especially for players who depend on salaries alone because they fail to make it into the final 18 squad that is paid camping allowances. The executive has been mum on the issue of salaries and winning bonuses.

Itas even worse after Beefy (Philani Ncube) was suspended because he is vocal and would have raised the issue with the executive,a? said a player who requested anonymity.

a?I would not want to comment on that because salaries and winning bonuses are part of council policy issues. Even council workers are owed money but that is being dealt with at city council level,a? said club chairman Jerry Sibanda.

Club acting chief executive officer MacKenzie Moyo was said to be in marathon meetings. .
