FORMER national Under-19 cricket team all-rounder William Dube is enjoying his off-season stint in Namibia where he is turning out for Windhoek-based CCD Tigers Cricket Club.
Dube is in his second month of his six-month contract with the Namibian Premier League club.
The former Gifford High School and Emakhandeni Cricket Club cricketer said he is enjoying his stay in Namibia.
“Playing in Namibia has been an eye-opener. I arrived here in March and they welcomed me very well. I’m enjoying my stay here and hopefully I will be getting a contract extension,” said Dube.
The 22-year-old pace bowler said he clinched the six- month contract after going for trials in February with five other Zimbabweans.
Dube attended trials with the quartet of Anele Maleta from Harare, Nqobile Sibanda, Anesu Mlambo and Brad James. Only Dube and James managed to get contracts in Namibia.
James plays for Seputa’s AST Cricket Club.
Dube has played three test matches for his club and two 50 over matches. The ambitious youngster dreams of playing for Zimbabwe’s national team.
“I believe that playing for Matabeleland Tuskers will be an avenue for me to make it to the national team. Should my contract end here and I decide to come back home, I will definitely compete for a place at Matabeleland Tuskers so that I further my career,” said Dube.
