The trust was born after the founder, Teurai Chanakira’s mother, Elizabeth, lost her seven-year battle with cancer.
The fashion show that has been organised by award-winning Catherine of Ruze Modelling Agency, will also feature designs by Melusi Nhengu.
Sidumiso will showcase 10 pieces from his label “Shadows by Sidumiso”.
Models from Ruze Modelling Agency, alongside Bulawayo’s socialite Gilmore Moyo will walk the ramp in both Melusi and Sidumiso’s collections.
Sidumiso said he felt humbled to be taking part in an event that raises awareness on cancer, especially during this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Zimbabwe, according to the Zimbabwe National Cancer Registry.
The organisers of the event said they realised that most cancer patients could not afford treatment hence the decision by ECCT to supports patients financially. The organisation meets part of the treatment costs, pays for the education of at least one child per family and buys basic nutritional foods for families.
“With no subsidised costs for cancer treatment, marginalised cancer patients have little or no hope. This event is the beginning of hope,” said the organisers.
This is not the first time that Sidumiso is taking part in a fashion show, as he had his creations showcased at the 2008 fashion show called Avant Garde.
Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural and fashion realms.
The creations are not meant to be worn and are deemed as over-the-top, ridiculous and just plain bizarre by those that are not fashion conscious.
The 27-year-old Mpompoma-based designer, said this time he was taking designs which he termed “clustered collection”.
