THE curtain comes down on the Bulawayo Pool Association season with an awards ceremony at Horizon Pub and Grill on Saturday.
BPA publicity secretary Donald Wadawu said they are going to award teams and individuals that excelled during the season. He said the awards are divided into two – the BPA Monetary Awards and the Chairman’s Awards.

Five teams from both Division One and the Premier League will receive shields and monetary prizes with the top three teams receiving 30 medals each.

Champions Kings will walk away with $2,000, double the prize money they received after winning the league last year.
Entumbane will receive $1,600 for being the runners-up while third placed team Extreme will walk away $1,200 richer.
Raylton and Gold & Black will pocket $800 and $400 each for finishing fourth and fifth position respectively.

In Division One,  Nketa Stars will get $1,300 for being the champions while Tel-One will walk away with $1,000 as the second best side with $800 going to third placed Drill Hall.

West Commonage and U.B.H who finished fourth and fifth respectively will get $600 and $300 respectively.
For the chairman’s Award categories, there is Best Pool Club both Premier League and Division One, Pool Master of the Year, Best Umpire of the Year, Pool Sports Writer of the Year and Best ZRP Pool Club.

“Special mention really goes to the ZRP because we have a total of eight teams participating in our league from the ZRP which we think deserves mention,” said Wadawu.

He said the event would be branded with BPA colours with the first 160 people to get free t-shirts.
“The season has been a success, kudos to the players, leadership at various clubs and unity of purpose within the executive and our chairman Godfrey Gondo for the good work,” said Wadawu.
