The tournament will be held at Regina Mundi High School courts in Gweru and six provinces are expected to participate.
Bulawayo, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Harare and the host province, Midlands have confirmed their participation while Masvingo is yet to confirm. Manicaland, Matabeleland North and South are not sending teams to the tournament.
The tournament is meant to select the national team for the Afro-basketball qualifiers to be held in Mozambique from 17-23 February.
Ndlovu said they had prepared hard for the tournament and will not do as they did last year when they fell at the last hurdle.
“Last year, the team did well but we lost to Harare in the final match. This time around we have prepared well and the girls have worked hard,” Ndlovu said.
He said even though two of his key players will be missing in action due to injuries, he believed the rest of the players will do the job.
“Two of our key players Nobukhosi Ndlovu and Sibongile Mnkandla got injured last year and they have not recovered but I have faith in the rest of the team,” he said.
Ndlovu said they will be banking on the services of Pretty Thinawo, Geraldine Chibonda, Cleopatra Manda, Jackie Maphenduka, Seldom Woods and the experienced Auncillah Chivero.
Basketball Union of Zimbabwe President Simon Lawson said they have tentatively booked the Zimbabwe Military Academy courts in case rains disrupt their tournament.
“If we experience any problems of weather we will make use of ZMA because it has in-house courts.
“We will be using these games to select a team that will represent the country in Mozambique next week,” Lawson said.
