Speaking at the occasion, the club’s president, Mrs Lesley Williams, said they were happy to donate towards the development of schools and welfare of pupils. The club also drilled the borehole.
“The club is dedicated to serving the community, with a particular focus on child welfare and water sanitation.
“We trust that the pupils will have adequate furniture during lessons and the borehole will provide safe drinking water for the pupils and teachers,” said Mrs Williams.
“Our gratitude goes to the Rotarians of District 6170 in Arkansas, United States of America and the Rotary Foundation for sourcing funds for the project, the Rotarians of Bulawayo South who sourced desks and Mr Delay Dube who did the project investigation.”
Mayembe Adventist Primary School headmaster Mrs Stella Matshazi said she was grateful to the club for providing pupils in the school with a conducive environment for learning.
“The club has alleviated the biggest problem that the school was facing. Our pupils were learning sitting on the ground and had no source of water.
“A total of 75 percent of the pupils are orphans and could not afford to buy furniture for the school.
“We are happy with the donation, as it will motivate both teachers and pupils to work hard for the development of the school,” said Mrs Matshazi.
