THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association is preparing to hold polls to elect Bulawayo district leaders following the endorsement of a new provincial executive.

Bulawayo war veterans’ chairperson Cde Cephas Ncube said members would be advised of the date when elections for the province’s 20 districts would be held.

He said each district would elect a chairperson, a vice chairperson, a secretary and committee members.

“It’s normal to have district elections after successfully electing our provincial leadership. The district leadership will coordinate meetings at their level for the purposes of maintaining unity among the comrades,” said Cde Ncube.

He said elected district leaders would be tasked with addressing problems faced by members in their districts.

Bulawayo war veterans District 11 members are set to hold a polls preparatory meeting on Sunday in Nketa 6.

The District 11 secretary Cde Jange Chimeri said aspiring leaders would be told of what is expected of them during the weekend meeting ahead of the polls.

“All District 11 members inside and outside Bulawayo are invited to attend a general meeting at District 11 offices on Sunday 27 September 2015 at 14:00HRS to prepare for the district elections. Don’t be left out, please all attend,” said Cde Chimeri.

“We’re soon going to be conducting district elections. We want all our members to come for Sunday’s meeting. We want to map the way on how we’re going to conduct our elections so that those who want to hold positions can start preparing.”
