The Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill (CAB3) has moved into the Committee Stage in the National Assembly following its passage through the Second Reading, with legislators now debating the proposed amendments clause by clause.
The Committee Stage marks a critical phase in the legislative process, allowing Members of Parliament to scrutinise each provision of the Bill in detail and propose amendments where necessary.
Debate on CAB3 is focusing on the specific clauses contained in the Bill, with lawmakers examining the wording, implications and intended outcomes of each provision before deciding whether to adopt, amend or reject them.
Unlike the Second Reading which centred on the general principles and objectives of the Bill, the current stage is dedicated to a detailed examination of the text.
Each clause is being considered separately to ensure that the proposed constitutional changes receive thorough parliamentary scrutiny.
The clause-by-clause debate is expected to determine the final shape of the Bill before it proceeds to the next stages of the legislative process.
