Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi has warned party members against abusing party vehicles ahead of this year’s harmonised elections.
Only the provincial executive council, Cde Ziyambi said, had a mandate to clear vehicles for duties.
“Party leaders should not abuse party cars. They have to be released by PEC (provincial executive council). This will also enable transparency in the way we conduct our business as a party.
“Only the provincial secretary for administration, due to the nature of his task, has the prerogative of using the party’s vehicles without PEC clearance,” he said.
Cde Ziyambi said unruly elements were a threat to the ethos of the ruling party.
“People should stop peddling falsehoods to national executive members or even back-biting. Let us learn to resolve our own issues from within.”
Cde Ziyambi also urged party cadres to remain united ahead of the harmonised elections.
“Hooliganism should cease. Let us be civilised. Let’s remain united. Our general elections are very predictable. They will be held in a few months’ time,” he said.
He also urged the ruling party to capitalise on the confusion and squabbles plaguing the opposition MDC-T.
“The MDC-T is like a house on fire, giving us an added advantage as the ruling party. But let us not be complacent. We should continue working hard so that we win resoundingly, surpassing the 2013 record.
“There are also many small political parties mushrooming to just cause confusion so that the planned free and fair elections would be discredited. We will not lose sleep over them.”
