A 25-year-old Guruve man has been sentenced to an effective five years in jail after pleading guilty to sodomising his 13-year-old cousin, saying he had failed to endure 12 weeks of no sex after his wife had just given birth.
The man was sentenced to eight years in prison when he appeared before Bindura resident magistrate Mrs Sandra Mupindu, facing aggravated indecent assault.
In mitigation, the man asked for forgiveness, saying he didn’t know what came over him after failing to endure going for weeks without sex after his wife gave birth.
In passing sentence, Mrs Mupindu said the complainant was left traumatised.
The prosecutor Mrs Carol Mupazviriwo told the court that on February 11 this year at around 7pm, the boy retired to bed, leaving his cousin in the kitchen.
They were sharing the same room because the man’s wife had just given birth.
The court heard that the man later joined the minor at around 10pm.
The man then removed the minor’s clothes and sodomised him.
The matter came to light after the minor opened up to his mother.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the man and the minor was taken for medical examinations.
