A GROUP of young people in Kwekwe, who are into baking, have come together and organised a Cake Fair, aimed at promoting bakers.

The event will be held at Prince Park in the Kwekwe Central Business District on Saturday. Speaking to H-Metro, the event organiser, Naison Makumba, from Karowaz Media Company, said the event was aimed at empowering youths and women, who are thriving through baking.

“We are trying to promote those who are in the baking industry and we are mostly targeting women.

“It is the Dream Team Planners, together with Karowaz Media, who are behind this initiative, “ said  Makumba.

He highlighted that women and the youths were struggling to set up thriving baking businesses, even though they were very creative and talented, in that sphere.

“We have realised that mostly women and youths struggle to set up their businesses and this will be an open platform so that their businesses are exposed to the general public and business partners.

“Everyone who thinks he or she has got skills, qualifies  to compete but for fun.

“We want to encourage bakers in and around Kwekwe to participate in this event in order for them to be able to showcase their talents and market themselves, winners will have some prizes.

“Prince Park is the place to be on Saturday, there will be a whole lot of fun, “ he said.
