A MONTH after the triumphant release of his album, Bulawayo rapper Cal_vin will have a chance to share the stage with the man who played a large part in his success, Cassper Nyovest.
The two are set to share the stage during the Urban Africa Festival to be held in Germany later this month.
The duo will be joined by other African hip-hop heavyweights like South Africaa��s Major League DJs and Gasmila, Megaloah, Temmie Dollface, Ghananian Stallion at the festival which will run from 27-30 September.
This will be first time that the duo shares the stage since Nyovest joined Cal_vin on stage for a rendition of the chart topping remix of his career launching hit, Zkhuphana�� at last yeara��s Kalawa Homecoming.
Nyovesta��s contribution to that song is largely hailed as being instrumental in helping shine the spotlight on Cal_vin who, despite his own individual output, had struggled to make a dent in the local music industry before last year.
Cal_vin said that he had not known that Nyovest and other African superstars would take part in the festival when he had been invited last month.
a�?Someone got in touch with me through Facebook and they basically extended an invitation for me to take part in that festival. It was only recently when they released the full line-up that I understood how big it was going to be because I had no clue when they initially invited me,a�? he said.
The rapper, who was in Harare this week finalising the travel arrangements, added that he was convinced that all would go smoothly as the festival organisers had been very professional in their dealings with him.
Recently city artistes that have been invited to international gigs like the recently held WCOPA have had to shelve their plans because of a lack of funding to make the trips.
a�?The festival organisers have handled everything. From the travelling costs to the accommodation costs when I get that side everything has been taken care of. Basically I am being paid just to show up there and perform and that is a great thing for me as an artiste because we always dona��t have that sense of security,a�? he said.
Cal_vin also said that performing alongside Nyovest would make the show all the more special, as it gave him the opportunity to share the stage with one of the most popular music figures on the continent currently and someone who had been instrumental in the growth of his career. .
