Veteran winger Franklin Cale has signed a one-year deal with Highlands Park as the newly promoted outfit strengthen their squad ahead of their opening Absa Premiership outing next month.
Cale has been on trial over the last month in Johannesburg and agreed a short term deal.
The 33-year-old Cale had been released by Ajax Cape Town at the end of last season.
Cale had started his career at Ajax but moved to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2009. He spent two and a half seasons there before moving to SuperSport United where he stayed for another 18 months. In 2013 Cale returned to Cape Town to join Ajax again but started just 20 league matches with just four goals scored over three seasons before the club decided not to offer him a new contract.
Highlands Park were due to play champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the opening round of Absa Premiership fixtures, but the Brazilians were in Nigeria on Tuesday for an African Champions League assignment.
