“Our event is tailored to provide mental stimulation and stress relief for senior citizens while fostering intergenerational connections and community bonding.
“As we navigate the complexities of life, it is easy to forget that our mental health is just as important as our physical health.
“That is why we are excited to launch Vintage Vibes Family Fun Day, a unique event designed to promote mental wellness among senior citizens and their families in Southerton, Lochinvar, and surrounding areas,” she said.
Liz further said they intend to provide mental stimulation and stress relief for senior citizens through engaging activities and entertainment.
“This is about fostering intergenerational connections and community bonding by bringing together seniors, their families, and the wider community.
“We also intend to celebrate life, and positivity, and reduce loneliness among senior citizens through a fun and inclusive event.
“At the event we will also offer a nostalgic experience through live music and retro entertainment, promoting a sense of nostalgia and shared experience.
“The bottom line is to create a platform for seniors to share life stories and experiences, promoting social interaction and community engagement.
“There will be also raising of awareness about mental health and wellness among senior citizens, their families, and the wider community.”
She further said, mental health affects us all, regardless of age.
“By engaging senior citizens and their families, we are breaking down barriers and fostering a culture of understanding.
“We are proud to partner with The Friendship Bench, an evidence-based intervention developed in Zimbabwe to bridge the mental health treatment gap.”
Local artist and wellness activist, Brian Nyahuma, also added value to the initiative.
“For me, this initiative is about being my brother and sisters’ keeper, fostering a supportive community, encouraging open conversation about mental health, and providing resources for those seeking help.”
