Call to Worship crusade to light up Mabvuku

Sunday Mail Correspondent

THE Mabvuku community is gearing up for the interdenominational Call to Worship 2022 crusade to be held in the high-density suburb from October 27 to 30.

The praise and worship programme is aimed at helping address social ills such as drug abuse and rising crime, which have beset the suburb.

Running under the theme “Jesus is the Answer”, the annual event is expected to attract thousands of churchgoers as it makes a return this year after the last two editions were cancelled due to Covid-19.

Apostle Elliot Bhakuche of Glory to Glory Ministries in Mabvuku said the Covid-19 pandemic, coupled with high unemployment rates, has resulted in an increase in the number of young citizens turning to drug abuse.

“We are battling the scourge of drug abuse in our community, and at one time Mabvuku was ranked number one in terms of drug abuse.

“We are praying that this crusade will bring revival into our area so that people can turn to God again,” he said.

Pastor Chipo Joice Misha from Ever Grace Chapel International said she hopes the crusade will empower women in Mabvuku and surrounding areas.

“The Covid-19 pandemic and resultant national lockdowns affected social cohesion, resulting in a lot of problems such as gender-based violence and drug abuse. We want to use this crusade to reform our society for good,” she said.

Pastor Tendai Anderson of Elshaddai Revival Ministries International noted that some female students were dropping
out of school due to early pregnancies, and
are
in need of spiritual guidance and counselling.

A Call to Worship business seminar, which runs concurrently with the worship event, will feature prominent business leaders such as Econet Wireless Zimbabwe’s deputy chief executive officer, Mr Roy Chimanikire, and Maranatha Group of Schools founder, Dr Sam Mudavanhu, who will share knowledge on business and entrepreneurship.
