Calling neighbour witch lands man in jail

Surprise Moyo (30), who resides at 3172 Matendele in Plumtree Town, was convicted on his own plea by Mr Phanankosi Mzingaye Moyo.

He was sentenced to six months in prison but two months of the sentence were conditionally suspended.

The State’s case as presented by Mr Paul Munyaradzi Mpofu is that Moyo visited the complainant’s homestead on several occasions threatening and accusing him of witchcraft.

On the first visit Moyo accused Mr Dwellin Moyo of witchcraft.

Three days later at about 10 am Moyo armed himself with an axe and proceeded to Mr Dwellin’s homestead where he started insulting him. He threw an axe at the complainant, but missed him.

The complainant fled from Moyo and made a report to the police leading to his arrest.
