Cameo claim Heroes tourney honours

CAMEO shooting guard Taurai Chitsinde was crowned the Most Valuable Player as his side won the inaugural edition of the Heroes Basketball Trophy at Prince Edward yesterday.Chitsinde was in top form as he inspired Roderick Takariwa’s side to beat the Expandables 47-28 in the final.

On their way to the final, Cameo had prevailed 48-29 over Jammers while Expandables edged Hornets 49-46.

For finishing tops, Cameo walked away with a trophy and a kit.

Chairperson of the organising committee, Tendai “T-Buns” Zhakata said he was happy with the quality of matches at the event.

“We enjoyed huge crowds buoyed by the Heroes Holiday and although we only had eight teams, they really played well.

“At the end of the day, however, you can only have one champion and for this edition it was Cameo.

“They played extremely well, displaying speed and accuracy under the ring,” he said.

Zhakata also said while the tournament was a success there were some grey areas that need to be addressed in future events.
