Cameroon’s health ministry on Friday confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the Central African country.
The patient is a 58-year-old French citizen who arrived in the capital Yaounde on Feb. 24, it said in a statement.
Cameroon with host the African Championships of Nations (CHAN) from April 4-25. The Zimbabwe CHAN squad gets into camp Sunday, preparing for the tournament.
The news of Cameroon’s first confirmed case comes a day after South Africa confirmed its first case Thursday. Nigeria was the first sub-Saharan country to confirm Covid-19, as the coronavirus is officially known.
