Prospective candidates bidding to represent the party in the National Assembly, Senate and councils in Mashonaland West have started distributing T-shirts emblazoned with their faces and names while others have stuck posters on vehicles. Mashonaland West provincial chairman Cde John Mafa said campaigning had already started but said some candidates were waiting for the publication of the lists after their endorsement by the Politburo on Wednesday.

“Yes others have already started while others are still waiting for the names to be published today (yesterday) by the national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo,” he said.

Cdes Gilbert Chibayamagora and Christine Nyere who are contesting for the House of Assembly seats in Kariba put up posters in their targeted constituencies. Cde Phillip Chiyangwa, who is gunning for the Chinhoyi seat also put up posters and distributed T-shirts.

Cde Mafa said the provincial executive had started preparations for the primaries but said the process would go into full swing after the names have been made public. Others who were not sure of their prospects before their CVs were accepted have been silently campaigning hoping that they meet the criteria.
