This is not the first time this year that a foreign coach has been roped into the Young Sables technical structures in preparation for the annual world junior rugby tournament.
South African coach Nice de Villiers — who is also a strength and conditioning coach — worked with the Young Sables, specialising in forwards before their tour to South Africa for the friendly games.
The coaches are coming to Zimbabwe under and agreement between and the International Rugby Board, the Zimbabwe Rugby Union and the Zimbabwe Under-20 committee led by former Sables winger Aaron Jani.
“We are very excited about this development as it is an arrangement that is meant to better our side before we leave for the JWRT next month and this has again been facilitated for by the IRB.
“We approached the IRB and told them what we saw was necessary for the team, they saw what we need and they assisted us in this way and so we are meeting some of the costs associated with bringing these coaches here while the IRB are taking care of certain costs as well.
“His main thrust here will be the Under-20 camp but of course he is going to hold a question and answer session at a dinner function at La Seranata in Harare on the 26h of this month and the following day he will also be at our golf day,” said Jani.
