AFTER a difficult week, Dynamos will be out to write a story which can generate some positive headlines when they host the latest edition of the Battle of Zimbabwe at Rufaro on Sunday.
The Glamour Boys preparations for their biggest assignment were disrupted by a five-day strike by players, which started last week, who were demanding their winnig bonuses, allowances and signing-on fees.
The Battle of Zimbabwe is back at Rufaro for the first time since 2019 and Bosso will have a new arsenal, striker Nqobile Ndlovu, 26, who was signed from Flamingoes of Botswana.
DeMbare lost the opening fixture against Bosso at Barbourfelds on the first day of the season when they succumbed to a 1-2 defeat.
Coach Genesis Mangombe said challenges will always be a part of Dynamos but they should always find a way to respond.
“It’s always like that in a game of football but you need to soldier on and grind results under any circumstances.
“The boys have enough motivation due to the status of the game itself.
“The Confederation Cup is around the corner and they need to prove that they can play for Dynamos.” The Glamour Boys have been drawn against ZESCO United in their return to CAF inter-club football. Ngezi Platinum Stars will take on AS Maniema of the DRC in the Champions League.
“We are starting the second half with a crucial encounter, we want to turn the tables this time around,” said Mangombe.
“We lost at Barbourfields and this time we need to collect maximum points at Rufaro.
“The second half of the season is always tricky, if you get it wrong in a game, and lose points, it will be difficult for you to be in the race for the championship.
“If you lose, the gap is going to be widening and, as a team, we will try to do our best in every game to make sure that we collect points and cover the gap between us and the top teams.”
He added:
“In the first half, we have been creating chances but our problem was in finishing and, with the way the boys are now responding and understanding what we want and what it means to play for Dynamos, we are set to change things.”
