A 48-YEAR-OLD man from Burnside in Bulawayo is appealing for assistance to raise more than US$400 needed to ascertain the type of cancer he is suffering from after he developed a growth on his neck which is making it impossible for him to eat solid foods.

He is surviving on milk, porridge and mahewu and has been struggling to raise the amount of money needed for an X-ray to determine the type of cancer. The man, Mr Moses Mambudzi Mbotshani (pictured above), who sometimes struggles to talk because of the pain said his predicament started in 2021 when he noticed a pimple on the side of his neck and did not think much of it as he assumed it would fade away. His daughter Grace, narrated the ordeal.
“When we saw the pimple, we just thought that it was a normal pimple that would fade with time but we realised it wasn’t and last year we consulted a doctor who took blood samples. After a week, they instructed us to get another sample and we had to pay another US$200. Before long, he started experiencing pain in his neck and we noticed there were three growths on the left side of his neck. We went to the hospital to seek help and the doctors told us the cancer could be operated on judging on where it is located.”
Mr Mbotshani, was told to get an X-ray which costs US$270 so that the doctors can see what type it is, and an additional US$45 for blood tests.
“I just need someone who knows how to remove this thing so that I will recover and start working for my family,” he said.
Earlier in the year, the pimples popped forcing out a lot of pus which had a pungent smell, and the lump has spread from the left side to the right side of his neck.
