‘CAPS have the best players’

club’s weekly press briefing on Thursday the former Monomotapa coach, who is yet to win a match in the three matches he has taken charge of so far, believes he has been unfortunate to arrive at a time when the club is faced with a lot of challenges.
Two high-profile defeats to fellow giants Highlanders and Dynamos sandwiched another reverse at the hands of Black Mambas.
“I know very well that it is a big challenge.
“Dynamos, CAPS United and Highlanders are the biggest teams in the country.
“If I wasn’t ready, I wouldn’t have taken the job.
“I still believe I have what it takes to steer the team and bring back the glorious days.
“It’s just that the chips are down, expectations are high . . . the task is to steer the team to safety.
“We have 11 matches to go and we have been in charge for three games. CAPS is a big brand.
“If you look at the log you will see that what is happening to CAPS United has been happening to other clubs.
“If you look at Shabanie, they have lost three games in a row but because it is CAPS United everyone is talking about us.”
Mangwiro believes their luck is about to turn.
“Very soon we will away get from the murky waters that we find ourselves in.
“We know this is a challenging job and I knew very well what I was getting into.
“There should be an improvement and we should try to garner more points than we did in the first half and I am sure we will be safe.
“I believe we have the best players in the league but they have not yet come to the party.”
Mangwiro, who also previously coached Masvingo United and Eastern Lions, said they have not lost hope despite going for seven matches without a win.
“Everyone is concerned with the poor run of form.
“A lot of things have been done to motivate these guys.
“We will keep fighting, we want to believe we will get there.
“Things haven’t been going according to plan.
“Expectations have been high that there is a new broom and things will go our way.”
CAPS United forward Washington Pakamisa also reckoned that they just needed a win to start believing in themselves again.
Pakamisa said that victory had to be achieved at Sakubva tomorrow.
“What we need now is to start winning. We are training hard and if we get a win everything should be okay,” said Pakamisa.
The coach could not be drawn to comment on the impact that the sacking of goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and former captain Nyasha Mukumbi will have on the team.
