CAPS United are expected to fly to Bulawayo this morning for their Castle Lager Premiership showdown against Chicken Inn at Luveve this afternoon, with coach Lloyd Chitembwe saying his charges are in good spirits.
The Green Machine are breaking with tradition in domestic football, where visiting teams usually make road trips for their matches and will be on the Air Zimbabwe flight to the City of Kings for their showdown with the defending champions.
The Harare giants will fly back home soon after the match and will be in the capital this evening. Usually, Harare clubs travel to Bulawayo a day before the game and camp in the City of Kings for their assignments against teams from the country’s second biggest city.
CAPS United have been battling in a tough operating environment to project themselves in a very professional way and they have a club house in Harare, where they hold weekly media briefings on Thursdays.
Club owner Farai Jere confirmed yesterday that his team will fly to Bulawayo this morning.
“We are taking the aerial route for the match against Chicken Inn and the team should be back in Harare a few hours after the match,” said Jere.
Makepekepe rallied from two goals down, with a second half performance that was full of determination and quality to force a share of the spoils in their last game against ZPC Kariba, and Chitembwe said his men were walking with a spring in their step. “Normally, I don’t look at the opponents and how they have been doing. We look at what we are supposed to do in terms of preparations and play itself,” said Chitembwe.
“We are happy with what we have done to date and we are looking forward to the game.”
Makepekepe have been forced to drop former captain Hardlife Zvirekwi and Archford Gutu, who picked injuries in the last match against ZPC Kariba.
