Caps United director Twine Phiri confirmed on Tuesday that there were two players who had impressed his side. He could not disclose their names fearing that there could be a scramble from other clubs for the same players.
“Our coaches were impressed with the performances of some Quelaton players when we played against them in Bulawayo on Sunday. It is not our intention to start speaking about them now before we have even approached Quelaton.
“In any case if we start making noise now, the danger is we could alert other clubs of the talent they previously did not know about. Our operations department will soon get in motion as we seek to strengthen the team for next season,”said Phiri.
Goalkeeper Winston Chiwetu was the difference between a Caps win and a draw with an outstanding afternoon in which he blocked a penalty and saved several other gilt-edged chances.
Central defender, big Zibusiso Sibanda had a good performance so was midfielder Eddie Nkulungo on the wings. Another player who could be on the Caps radar is Mhleli Sibanda, a promising attacking midfielder.
Caps under Taurai Mangwiro and Mkhuphali Masuku seem to be on a rebuilding exercise after losing almost a dozen players in the last three years to South Africa.
The two coaches have given directors Phiri and Farai Jere reason to believe that their project is on revival course and come next year they could be chasing honours.
