CAPS United skipper, Phineas Bamusi believes the Green Machine have what it takes to eliminate MWOS in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup slated for Ngoni Stadium tomorrow.
But, local football experts are having a tough time in predicting the outcome of this clash.
It is because the two sides have been poor in their last five Castle Lager Premiership fixtures.
The hosts MWOS are winless in their last five matches as they have registered three losses.
That poor run has minimised their chances of winning the championship race as they are now five points behind leaders, Simba Bhora who are on 47 points in 24 games.
It is also the same time that has seen Makepekepe being dragged heavily in the relegation conversation.
Ian Bakala’s men have recorded two defeats, two draws and a win during the period under review. And, this ugly turn of fortunes has seen the Green Machine floating just three points above the red zone.
Some are tipping the Punters to progress to the next round of the competition because of the home advantage as the only reason behind their bet.
Others are suggesting that the winner of this match is going to be decided via a penalty shootout. MWOS floored CAPS United 2-1 the last time they met at the same venue.
Makepekepe have never won this competition and they remain the only giants amongst the country’s big three which includes Dynamos and Highlanders without this trophy. But, Bamusi has insisted that this could be their time to end the lengthy wait.
“I feel we have players who are capable of delivering against any opponent,so we going all out for it,” said Bamusi.
“We have tried our best to work on areas we feel MWOS dominated the last time we met and hopefully this time it will work as planned.
“The demands are always the same and we continue working hard so that the fans get value for their money. We have failed to be consistent as individuals in the last five games and as a team and it affected our results.”
