THIS was a victory that was celebrated in Shamva.
CAPS United were not expected to beat FC Platinum in their Castle Lager Premiership match yesterday.
It’s something the Green Machine had failed to do in seven years.
The good money was on Norman Mapeza and his men coming to Harare, picking up three points and going back to the top of the table.
But, football can humble you and yesterday Makepekepe turned on the power and beat FC Platinum 1-0 at Rufaro.
The result ensured Simba Bhora, whose owner Simba Ndoro is also a CAPS United fan, remained on top of the table.
The Shamva community has never had it this good.
This year Premiership football came to their doorsteps for the first time in their history when Wadzanai was cleared to host matches.
Their team is now top of the table having already beaten Dynamos, Highlanders and CAPS United this season.
If anyone had told them in January that this would be the story of their club, in August, they would have dismissed you as a mad person.
But, the title is in their hands and if they win all their remaining matches, Simba Bhora will be champions, irrespective of what happens elsewhere.
