Cara sent packing

NEW YORK. — Zimbabwe’s Cara Black and her tennis doubles partner Marina Erakovic of New Zealand have been knocked out of the US Open following a marathon third-round match at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday.Russian second seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina won 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in a 2-1/2 hour match which finished just before 9pm local time to advance to the quarter-finals.

It was a disappointing result for 13th seeds Black and Erakovic, whose serving dropped away after an impressive opening  set.
