Forrest has also been a regular performer on South Africa’s premier comedy show “The Heavyweight Comedy Jam”, which tours the country on a regular basis, as well as being an honorary black man on the hugely successful “Blacks Only Show” that has revolutionised comedy in South Africa.
While this is a debut performance in Zimbabwe for Forrest, this will not be the first time for Banks who has performed in the country before.
He has been in the comedy industry for over 25 years.
His constant banter and uncontained one-liners have often lent him undeniable praise as MC for award ceremonies, corporate functions, banquets and conferences whereby he casually digs in to all and sundry with his potent brand of Banks humour.
Mark represented South Africa at the 1996 “Just For Laughs Comedy Festival” in Montreal.
Among the numerous side-splitting performances Banks has staged, his first one-man show “Stars of South Africa” and another show “We’re Not On Top . . . We’re Inside” won the prestigious Epol Late Entry Award at the Gilooly’s Farm Dog Show.
Not to be outdone is Zimbabwe’s Carl Joshua Ncube.
Described by CNN African Voices as the “New face of Zimbabwean Comedy”, Carl literally broke into the Zimbabwean comedy scene with his debut one-man show “Carl Joshua Ncube’s Big Announcement”.
To date Carl has performed in South Africa,Botswana, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria and USA.
The comedians will be performing courtesy of Event Worx. A spokesperson of the company, Lyndon Kapuya, was confident the show would be a success.
“We have lined up big names in comedy and we are convinced that they will leave fans clamouring for more.
“We will regularly be bringing in stand-up comedians to perform. This is a fantastic entertainment medium and we have since found out that the industry is not that vibrant, so we want to promote it,” he said.
