Carl Mumba dreams big

The Rhinos all-rounder felt a great deal of satisfaction when he recorded this maiden century but believes his best is still to come.
“It’s a like a dream come true. I have always dreamt of becoming a hero in cricket and I am confident that I am getting there slowly.
“I scored my first century and I am sure that this is just the beginning,” Mumba said.
The Zimbabweans recorded victories in all their games they have played in the boys Under-16 and Under-14 sections but lost in the girls Under-19 category.
Midwest Rhinos Under-16 boys batted first in their match and were all out for 127 runs and Botswana Under-16, in reply, could only manage 78 runs.
Midwest won the game by 39 runs.
In the Under-14 category, Mid West won the game by four wickets after putting on 115 for 6 before bundling out a fighting Botswana side for 114.
Zimbabwe Cricket development manager, Nick Singo, said they were happy to host the tournament as it helped them identify talented players for the future.
“The tournament was a great success as  we were able to discover  hidden talent like  Mumba whom we  think can be developed  to a useful all-rounder in future.
“As a Test — playing nation, we were  happy to help an associate member develop  its game.
“After this tournament, Botswana  requested that they be allowed to participate  in our Inter-franchise tournament which  are held yearly.
“We will definitely consider their request,” said Singo.
Mumba started playing cricket in 2003 at Chiredzi Primary School.
He has taken part in a number of tournaments where he played with the zeal of becoming a super star.
“With the help of my brother Farai Mumba, I have managed to overcome a number of challenges in life.
“He motivated me to continue playing cricket as he used to say I am a good player but just needed to practise more.
“At the schools festival last year I scored 80 not out and we won as a team and after that I realised that my dream was coming to reality.
“I thank God to get to where I am today and I just hope that I will play for the national team one day,” said Mumba.
