Preparations are at an advanced stage for the Harare International Carnival with Zimbabwe Tourism Authority endorsing restaurants that would host visitors to the carnival.
The week-long event will run from May 16 to 25.

On Wednesday while touring restaurants that serve traditional food, ZTA chief executive officer Karikoga Kaseke endorsed PaRoots Restaurant as an ideal eating place for the carnival.

Speaking during the tour Kaseke said he was impressed the restaurant’s standards and it would be part of the carnival.

“I am here because l wanted to see the types of restaurants coming up these days to take us back to our traditional foods.

“We have seen that PaRoots is offering very serious traditional menu and I highly recommend this restaurant not only to the carnival visitors but also to every Zimbabwean,” he said.

Kaseke also said the restaurant is cultured.

“They offer services with a difference, l can’t remember when was the last time I was served by a woman kneeling down and I feel proud.”

Meanwhile, ZTA head of cooperate affairs,Sugar Chagonda said all was moving according to the plan.

“The models have already convened into camp ahead of the carnival queen competition and we also received confirmation from the Trinidad and Tobago delegation that their advance party should be arriving on Saturday (tomorrow).

“We also received a confirmation from Josh Hozheri organizer of the Carnival Jazz Night saying everything was in place for show that is scheduled for May 17,” he said.

The winner of the Carnival Queen pageant will represent Zimbabwe on the international arena and eventual winners will be the country’s ambassadors around the world.

The Miss Carnival pageant is a tradition and concept the ZTA has borrowed from all carnival hosting countries like Brazil, Seychelles and Nigeria. Highlight of the carnival include the street party and samba night.
