CARNIVAL VIBES: BULAWAYO SET TO BOOM WITH COLOUR AND CULTURE!

Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub

BULAWAYO is turning up the volume and drumming to its own beat as the City of Kings and Queens gets ready to explode with colour, culture, and creativity tomorrow in a belated Bulawayo Day celebration set to shake the city centre.
Forget the Monday blues. This is no ordinary start to the week. Tomorrow, the streets will transform into a carnival runway packed with traditional regalia, high-energy dancers, and live music that’ll have the city buzzing from morning to night.

A street parade will kick things off, with dancers, drum majorettes, and cultural troupes strutting their stuff through the city centre. Expect to see the rhythm of isiNdebele dances colliding with Kalanga beats and contemporary street styles in a cultural mash-up only Bulawayo can pull off.

The highlight of the day? A star-studded concert at the Large City Hall that promises to bring the house down. Headlining the gig is crowd favourite MJ Sings, who is expected to serenade fans with his smooth vocals. Sharing the stage will be the high-energy cultural ensemble Simunye Simunye, the ever-electrifying Jabulani Arts, and the lyrical firestarter Maluka Sgoda.

The talented George Phahlane adds his signature flair to the show, while the ever-charismatic MC Cde Phil keeps the energy high and the audience roaring.
And it’s not just about music and dance. Art lovers are in for a visual treat with a pop-up exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. Expect bold, thought-provoking pieces that tell stories of the city’s past, present, and bold future.

Meanwhile, the Bulawayo Arts Festival is still blazing across the city with live shows, exhibitions, and creative clashes lighting up different venues. From rooftop jams to theatre skits and spoken word battles, the vibe is pure Bulawayo brilliance.
Bulawayo Day, officially commemorated on June 1, is all about celebrating the soul of the city, its people, its history, and its unstoppable creative spirit.

Though the big party comes a day later this year, no one’s complaining. If anything, the city’s ready to throw down harder than ever.
Residents are being urged to come out in numbers, rock their cultural threads, and rep the city with pride. It’s more than just a celebration; it’s a bold reminder that Bulawayo’s heart beats loud, proud, and unfiltered.

Let the drums roll. The City of Kings is about to dazzle.
