Casmyn, Nkayi United win as ZPC (Hwange) are held

Casmyn and Nkayi United continued their fight for respectable finishes in the Zifa Southern Region League as they won their respective matches on Sunday.

Log leaders ZPC (Hwange) were held by Zebra Revolution to a nil all draw.

Nkayi beat Ajax Hotspurs 3-0 in a match played at the White City B Arena on Sunday.

Tinotenda Chitete one of the leading goalscorers in the league was on target alongside Future Gumbo and Prince Chitova in the big win.

Chitete is now tied with Hwange’s Justin Kaunda at 12 goals and Casmyn’s Tatenda Ushe.

Nkayi are eager to end the season on a high in their inaugural season despite trailing leaders ZPC Hwange by 17 points.

With the win Nkayi took their points’ tally to 35 points from 20 matches and with their 31 goals they have the third most potent strikeforce in the league. Leaders ZPC (Hwange) with 38 goals for and Mkhokheli Dube’s Zebra Revolution has 33.

ZPC (Hwange) received a big scare when being held to a 0-0 draw by Zebra Revolution a young side of boys out to have fun on the field and express themselves in the game and market their promising talents.

With the gained point ZPC (Hwange) took their points’ tally to 52 and now need just 17 points to seal the title and prepare for the 2024 Premiership season.

Revolution remained glued on seventh position with 28 points. For a young team making its debut with meagre resources, the youngsters who made history by becoming the first team using Sizinda grounds to be promoted into the Zifa Southern Region League.

Second placed Casmyn were on top of their game when they beat visiting Bulawayo City at Turk Mine on Sunday.

Ushe who is having a good season and is among the top goalscorers scored one of the two goals for the goal miners with Wilfred Nzondo netting the other.

Nzondo has scored six goals for his team.

Casmyn stayed second with 39 points, 13 adrift of log leaders ZPC (Hwange) who took their unbeaten run to 20 matches with 10 to go before the season ends.
