Nation mourns Adam Ndlovu
Temba Dube
Zimbabwe has been plunged into mourning following the death of one of the country’s most illustrious soccer sons, Adam Ndlovu in an accident on Sunday with calls for him to be accorded hero status.
President Mugabe yesterday joined the nation in mourning Adam and sent a condolence message to the Ndlovu family.
President Mugabe said he had been shocked by Adam’s death.
“It was with a deep sense of shock and sadness that I learnt of the untimely death yesterday (Sunday) morning of one of our revered soccer legends, Adam Ndlovu, following a car accident near Victoria Falls International Airport,” he said.
“Worse still, the same accident also claimed the life of another passenger while leaving his younger brother Peter with serious injuries.”
A woman identified as Nomcebo Tshili (24), who was also in the same vehicle, died in the crash.
“On behalf of Government, the nation, and on my own behalf. I wish to condole with the Ndlovu family upon Adam’s passing on and to wish at the same time Peter’s speedy recovery from the injuries,” President Mugabe said.
