Tenants’ shenanigans wake landlord

According to neighbours, the incident happened at 28542 Chirongo Street, Rujeko C on Saturday night.

The house belongs to Mr and Mrs Mutisi.

The man at the centre of the storm, a Mr Zhou, is alleged to have been sneaking into the woman’s room only identified as Mai Gail, who is single whenever his wife was away .

“Mrs Zhou had allegedly left for South Africa on business where she frequents as a cross-border trader. On the fateful day at around 9pm, Zhou allegedly came and silently sneaked into Mai Gail’s room and the two, as per routine started having a good time. The love birds are said to have made noise that attracted the attention of the landlord whose bedroom is next to the woman’s room. Mr Mutisi then woke up to check if all was well in the house,” said a neighbour.

He said Mr Mutisi thought it was a thief trying to break into one of the rooms but discovered that the noise was coming from the woman’s room.

“After realising that the noise was coming from Mai Gail’s room, Mr Mutisi went back to sleep. However, the noise continued. Mr Mutisi then gathered courage and peeped through the keyhole only to see Zhou having a nice time with Mai Gail,” said a neighbour.

Mr Mutisi is said to have called his wife who allegedly opened the door, which was not locked.

“The couple was stunned as they had forgotten to lock the door.

“However, this did not go down well with Mai Gail who started hurling obscenities at Mutisi’s wife accusing her of intruding into her privacy. She even threatened her with a lawsuit. The noise attracted many people who gathered at the house but luckily the Mutisi family went back into their room forcing Mai Gail to also keep quiet,” said another neighbour.

He said the crowd dispersed at about 12 midnight.

Contacted for comment, Mr Zhou, who declined to divulge his first name accused his landlord of wanting to destroy his marriage.

“These people want to destroy my marriage by peddling lies to my wife. I know that they will tell her all this because they want us to divorce. I don’t have any knowledge of what you are asking. Zvamuri imi vemapepa muchabudisa zvamanyepo. You can believe what people tell you but it is not true,” said Mr Zhou before hanging up his phone.

Mai Gail was evasive and said no one had a right to invade into other people’s privacy.

“I think people should mind their businesses and not waste their precious time on other people’s affairs. I am not able to comment on something personal but all what I can say is that everything that you have heard is rubbish and there is no truth in it. There is a lot of exaggeration,” she said.

Efforts to get a comment from Mr Mutisi and Mrs Mutisi proved fruitless as they were both not reachable on their mobile phones.
