Govt avails $2m for drought relief, livestock mitigation

THE Government has unveiled a $2 million Enhanced Drought Relief and Livestock Mitigation Programme aimed at saving livestock from starvation in Matabeleland South Province.

Speaking during the official launch of the programme at Guyu Business Centre in Gwanda District yesterday, the Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Mr Justin Hugh Mupamhanga, said under the programme, 5 671  tonnes of stockfeed and vaccines to cater for more than 150 000 cattle would be availed to farmers in Matabeleland South.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Public Service, Andrew Langa, Deputy President of the Senate, Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu, Chief Dennis Nhlamba of Garanyemba area in Gwanda  and senior Government officials.
